Okay, so you remember that I had that prompt table with 25 drabble prompts (or more likely you haven't a clue what I'm talking about). The idea was that I post one entry with the table with a gap for every drabble, then just fill in the blanks and give people a link to that entry when I updated. Well, I got a batch of Potioneers drabbles and a one-off back from my beta this morning and decided to update the table, also including a few that have been lurking on my hard drive for a while because I wanted to at least wait until December before I started posting any of the holiday stuff. I change the entry that the links go to, preview it and everything seems fine. Then, I do all the code for the post linking to it. Then I think to myself, 'I have saved those changes to the table entry, right? I didn't just preview them.' At this point, I tell LJ to save the changes, and even though the preview worked just fine, it refuses, saying the entry is too big. There then follows the best part of an hour of me trying to work out by trial and error just how much I need to cut from the post to get it to fit since it doesn't say how far over the limit I've gone...
As it turns out, the answer is that I have to 'cut' everything except Potioneers, so the other drabbles are here in a separate post, and that's why it looks like I'm spamming my FL.

And just in case anyone with an eidetic memory is wondering, I did try to be good and stick to writing the prompts in the order they came up, with the obvious exception, but my first attempt for the prompt 'Fleur' was so poor, I wouldn't let anyone other than my betae see it, and they're far too nice to copy it and show anyone.

Well, posting the other day seemed to force the muse into productivity, albeit that the resulting chapter was a short one, so I'm going to try it again.

Yesterday, I posted a chapter and then when I went back to writing I finished the chapter that had been half-written for most of a week, and wrote a Greenland drabble. I'm hoping posting another chapter today will encourage the muse to finish some more.

I'm still doing my best to stay ahead of ![[info - personal]](http://s.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png) geyer's daily birthday fic updates (though I don't have any more beta'ed), as well as doing my bit when it comes to reading, reviewing and reccing for Ravenclaw, so I'm just slotting in 'Potioneers' when I can. And, of course, just to make it fun, I'm still sleeping silly amounts of the day away and I have RL stuff, too. I really will try to update the drabbles a bit more often, though, if I possibly can.

for Septentrion1970
In total darkness Severus reached instinctively for his throat, managing only the barest movement. Untold weight held him down. He opened his eyes, grit gouging into his corneas. His mouth clogged with dirt, panic was a description far too insipid.
His heart didn't race.
Hours of twitching, then scrabbling followed. His fingertips bled freely before he felt the flow of air and finally crawled free.
Tiny hands clapped enthusiastically. "Come to Mummy, my Dark Prince!"
Severus stared into winter eyes of boundless beauty, a gothic princess to his prince, a tyrant as crazed and power-hungry as any he'd ever served.

Hermione shook her head slightly. "I worked it out logically based on others' reports of the final battle. Harry isn't logical when it comes to you. You hated him before he set foot in Hogwarts, and he learned to reciprocate. Your Occlumency lessons left his mind wide open to Voldemort. He blames you for Sirius's death—"
"Because it's so much easier than accepting his own responsibility."
"Yes," she agreed. "It is."
